Cyberpunk 2077 2.5: everything in the Edgerunners 2 update

Cyberpunk 2077 has a new free update. Version 2.5 landed on 22 October, while the second season of the anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is streaming on Netflix. CD Projekt Red has added two side quests, dual-wielding for pistols and revolvers, new looks for your hand cyberware and an in-game mod menu on consoles. Most of it requires you to have finished The Heist, and some of it asks for a set Street Cred level or a specific perk. One piece of content, a nod to The Witcher 3, doesn’t appear in the official patch notes at all.

At a glance

Clampdown in Cyberpunk 2077 unlocks after The Heist and two gigs for Wakako, and it rewards a five-piece gear set based on King.

The Double Trouble perk in the Cool tree lets you hold a Power pistol or revolver in each hand.

Mods install from the in-game menu on PC, Mac, PS5 and Xbox Series, and a modded save blocks trophies and achievements on console.

Clampdown, the side quest set before Edgerunners 2

The headline addition in Cyberpunk 2077 2.5 is Clampdown, a side quest set before the events of the anime’s second season. To unlock it, finish The Heist and two gigs for Wakako, then wait for her message, according to the official patch notes CD Projekt Red posted on Steam.

During that mission, you can pick up a five-piece gear set based on King, a character from the show. The update also adds a radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, playing tracks from Edgerunners. Like the rest of version 2.5, the quest is free for everyone who owns Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk 2077 console mods: what to know before you install

Thanks to mod.io, mods now install from an in-game menu on PC, Mac, PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series. CD Projekt Red calls it a first step, with the selection of community creations set to grow over time. One catch on console: a save that uses mods blocks the trophies and achievements in Cyberpunk 2077. The Load Game menu flags modded saves with an icon and now groups your saves by playthrough. It follows the approach CD Projekt Red took with The Witcher 3 Remastered, covered in our guide to the best mods for The Witcher 3 Remastered.

Double Trouble puts a pistol in each hand

This is the most visible gameplay change in the update. The Double Trouble perk sits in the Cool tree, alongside four supporting perks. It opens up a brand-new playstyle for Cyberpunk 2077: a pistol or a revolver in each hand. The official notes limit it to weapons from the Power category.

Photo Mode gets in on the act as well, with new poses built around dual-wielding and frames taken from the Cyberpunk Trading Card Game, which turn your shots into custom cards.

Fresh paint for your cyberware and new outfits to collect

From this version on, your hand implants in Cyberpunk 2077 can change their look. Equip Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, the Monowire or the Projectile Launch System, then visit one of five Glamdocs, marked on the map with a spray paint icon. Each Glamdoc has its own shop, a voiced intro scene and a catalogue of cyberware skins in colours you can customise.

On the clothing front, Cyberpunk 2077 adds five full outfit sets sold by Maxiwear (Heywood, Arroyo, Little China), Jinguji (City Center), NetWatch (Kabuki, Japantown) and IconAmerica (Pacifica, Badlands, Northside), with one more set promised a little later. The NUS Infiltrator set is now on sale in Kabuki and Japantown. Some hairstyles that were previously exclusive to NPCs are now available for V, a few of them for one body type only.

Missing from the official notes, another outfit pays tribute to The Witcher 3. According to Gameblog’s guide to the hidden Witcher 3 content in the update, someone called Ariadne texts you once the patch is installed, and finishing any quest from version 2.5 triggers a second message. The package is waiting in a stash to the left of the door of V’s first apartment in Megabuilding H10. Inside are a jacket and trousers modelled on the Bear School armour, a pair of glasses, the dwarven sword Sihil and a knife.

Welcome to Paradise and twelve Minor Arcana to track down

Welcome to Paradise, the second new side quest, is a guided tour of Night City narrated by Richard Night and built around a mystery to solve. It unlocks once you’ve finished The Heist and reached Street Cred level 15.

Collectors get their own hunt too. Twelve new Minor Arcana tarot cards are hidden across the city, and scanning any of them starts an extension of the Fool on the Hill quest. Find them all and you’ll earn a special reward.

DLSS 4.5 and a field-of-view slider for consoles

Under the hood, Cyberpunk 2077 adds DLSS 4.5 with up to 6X Multi Frame Generation, drops FSR 3 upscaling while keeping FSR 2.1, FSR 4 and FSR 3.1 Frame Generation, improves the accuracy of HDR, and supports glasses-free 3D on compatible Samsung Odyssey 3D monitors. Mac players get MetalFX Frame Interpolation. According to Beebom’s rundown of the Edgerunners 2 update, consoles also get a field-of-view slider. Apartment and vehicle stashes gain item filters, and the Delamain cab no longer gets stuck during Things Done Changed.
