GTA 6 is less than two months away, landing on Thursday 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Two delays, a long-form showcase premiered on Netflix, a gameplay leak that Rockstar openly called a blow, and limited-edition controllers already up for pre-order have all piled up over the summer. It is a good moment to sort out what has actually been confirmed. Release date, UK and European prices, what each edition contains, pre-order bonuses, accessories and the PC question: every point below rests on an official or named source. A large part of the game is still being kept under wraps, though, so it pays to separate what Rockstar has announced from what is doing the rounds.
At a glance
GTA 6 launches on Thursday 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The standard edition costs £69.99 and the Ultimate Edition £89.99 on the PlayStation Store.
No PC version has been announced, although Take-Two says PC matters more and more.
GTA 6 arrives on 19 November, after two delays
The date is now set for Thursday 19 November 2026. Rockstar confirmed it in a post on its Newswire, apologising for adding more time to what the studio knows has been a long wait. Those extra months, Rockstar explained, are there to finish the game with the level of polish players expect.
This is the third target the game has been given. It was first aimed at autumn 2025, then pushed back on 2 May 2025 to 26 May 2026, when Rockstar said it was “very sorry” the release was later than expected. A second slip then moved the launch back by another six months, to the current date.
Since then, the studio has kept insisting the schedule will hold. In an interview with the Japanese magazine Famitsu, picked up by OpenCritic on 5 September, Rockstar’s Rob Nelson said the game would “definitely” come out as planned. The 19 November date has held since that second delay.
In practical terms, anyone who pre-orders digitally will be able to pre-load the game seven days ahead of launch, from 12 November. Release dates for the rest of the autumn’s big games are gathered in our video game release calendar, updated at every newsroom session.
Prices, editions and pre-order bonuses
Pre-orders have been open since 25 June, from midnight local time. On the game’s official PlayStation page, two editions are listed in the UK: the standard edition at £69.99 and the Ultimate Edition at £89.99. In France, the same editions are priced at €79.99 and €99.99.
The two editions are closer than you might think. Both include the Vintage Vice City Pack, one month of GTA+ and a seven-day pre-load. The Ultimate Edition adds an upgrade that Rockstar, in its pre-order announcement, describes as an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, among other content.
One detail worth checking before you pay: the PlayStation Store listing states that the free month of GTA+ renews automatically, and that the offer ends on 19 November 2026. Remember to cancel if GTA+ is not for you.
That leaves the choice between the two. The £20 difference pays only for the Ultimate upgrade, since the game itself, the pre-order pack and the pre-load are identical on both sides. For a player mainly interested in the story, the standard edition already covers the essentials.
What Rockstar has already shown of the game
On 27 August, Rockstar released Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, a long-form showcase that premiered on Netflix at 8pm UK time, before going up on Rockstar’s YouTube channel and the game’s official site at 2am. Choosing Netflix to reveal a video game says a lot about the scale Rockstar has in mind for this launch.
The showcase features the two lead characters, Jason and Lucia, in a modernised Vice City, through a mix of cinematic scenes and gameplay. It also sketches the broad outline of the story without giving away where it goes.
That showcase landed in a tense moment, however. A few days earlier, fifteen gameplay clips had leaked on social media. Rockstar stayed quiet for almost a week before responding, in a statement quoted by Kotaku, saying that seeing the footage leak this way had been “heartbreaking” for its teams. The studio also apologised for the time taken to finish the game.
What stands out from the episode is how short it was: the official showcase went out as planned the day after the statement, and the leak changed nothing about the announced schedule.
Two limited-edition DualSense controllers
Sony is marking the launch with two controllers, unveiled on 3 September on the PlayStation Blog: the DualSense Grand Theft Auto VI Black Limited Edition and the White Limited Edition. Both have a shimmering, colour-shifting finish that borrows the hues of a Vice City sunset and the glow of neon, with palm trees moulded directly into the shell.
Each costs £74.99, or €84.99 in Europe, and both arrive the same day as GTA 6, on 19 November. Pre-orders opened on 10 September. The white model is sold through PlayStation’s online store and participating retailers, while the black one is exclusive to PlayStation’s own store where it operates, and to selected retailers elsewhere.
Sony says both models are produced in limited quantities. Collectors would be wise not to hang about.
The PC version, still unannounced
On the PC side, nothing has been announced so far, and the game is coming to consoles only. The question still comes up every time Take-Two, Rockstar’s parent company, speaks in public. Its chief executive, Strauss Zelnick, addressed it again on 17 September at a short shareholder meeting reported by GamesRadar+.
His answer stayed careful. The group’s strategy, he said, is to release its games on platforms with a meaningful audience, while noting that this is not always the case. More telling was his remark that the PC platform is becoming “more and more important” to the company over time.
To be fair, the comment offers neither a date nor a firm commitment. It only tells us that PC figures in Take-Two’s thinking. No PC release date has been announced so far. PC players therefore have nothing to pre-order for now.
What is still to come before 19 November
Two months out, a few gaps remain in the official communication. The full contents of the Ultimate Edition upgrade are not spelt out on the PlayStation Store listing, and the PC question is still wide open.
The timetable itself is settled. Pre-loading opens on 12 November for digital pre-orders, the collector controllers and the game arrive on 19 November, and the GTA+ offer tied to pre-orders ends that same day. The key dates are set, the content is still to come.
Hitbox Magazine will follow every official announcement between now and launch in its dedicated GTA 6 section, sticking to the same rule as here: confirmed information is presented as such, and a rumour stays a rumour.
