Opening Ultimate Team on EA Sports FC 27 with a few thousand coins forces a choice. The transfer market is full of 82 and 83 rated cards trading below 1,100 coins, and they carry a squad through the opening weeks perfectly well. Spanish site Vandal logged those prices position by position on 22 September, across the PlayStation and Xbox markets. What follows are the profiles that stand out from that survey, with the usual caveat about a market that shifts daily.
At a glance
The useful 82 and 83 rated cards in EA Sports FC 27 sit between 600 and 1,100 coins depending on the position.
Every price here comes from the Vandal survey of 22 September, on PlayStation and Xbox.
Evolutions let a cheap card climb without going back to the market at all.
Goalkeepers and defence in EA Sports FC 27
Three names cover the goalkeeping slot in the same band. David De Gea and Ivan Provedel, both rated 83, sat around 900 to 1,000 coins when the survey was taken, while Péter Gulácsi dropped towards 600 to 800. An 83 rated keeper rarely costs more than a defender of the same rating, which makes it the position where heavy spending pays off least early on.

At centre back, Kim Min-jae, Manuel Akanji and Evan Ndicka share the same 83 rating and the same 800 to 1,000 band. Matthias Ginter and Willi Orbán sit a notch lower, between 700 and 900. Out wide, Pedro Porro and Denzel Dumfries go for 800 to 1,100 depending on the platform, while Giovanni Di Lorenzo and Daniel Muñoz, both 82, stay within reach at 600 to 800. On the left, David Raum and Lewis Hall hold around 700 to 900 coins.
Midfield, the best stocked area of the market
Midfield is where EA Sports FC 27 offers the strongest ratio between price and output. Morten Hjulmand and Aleksandar Pavlović, two 83 rated holding midfielders, sat between 700 and 900 coins, while Casemiro climbed towards 900 to 1,100. Fabinho, an 82, dropped into the 600 to 800 range. Stanislav Lobotka and Mikel Merino round out the middle at 800 to 1,000 coins.
Further forward, John McGinn is the textbook case here: rated 83, he traded around 800 to 900 coins for a card showing 80 shooting, 81 passing, 82 dribbling and 84 physical on his profile. Serge Gnabry, Isco and Morgan Gibbs-White occupy the same bracket. Profiles like these carry a starter squad for weeks without needing a second look.
Wingers and attackers on a budget
On the flanks, Cody Gakpo is the best value in the EA Sports FC 27 survey at roughly 600 to 700 coins for an 82 rated card. Riccardo Orsolini, Yannick Carrasco and Florian Thauvin sit in the same zone. Kingsley Coman, Jarrod Bowen and Álex Baena climb to 800 or 900, with Sadio Mané and Jack Grealish holding between 600 and 800.

Up top, Patrik Schick lands between 700 and 900 coins, with Ivan Toney and João Pedro around 900 to 1,100. A full attack built from 82 and 83 rated cards therefore costs under 3,000 coins, roughly what a single headline player would run you. The Vandal survey, written by Daniel González, states plainly that these figures are approximations taken from the PlayStation and Xbox markets and that they fluctuate. Check each price in the transfer list before buying, since the swing over a week can exceed half the listed value.
Upgrading a card instead of buying another
The second lever runs through Evolutions, which reshape a modest card without touching the market. Ludovic Quinson at Dexerto describes them as one of the best ways to turn an ordinary card into a competitive one, noting that a starter can keep improving week after week. The examples doing the rounds this season include Antonio Nusa, lifted from 78 to 81, and Lucas Bergvall.
One closing note on the free version: according to Gameblog, EA Sports FC 27 Lite gives access to Kick-Off, online friendlies and Online Seasons, and leaves Ultimate Team out. The full game is required to assemble any of this.
