The Grounds is the addition that shifts your habits most in EA Sports FC 27. An open social world, three districts, street football, short activities and a customisation system that drives your player everywhere else. A great deal arrives at once on your first log-in, and the urge to try everything at once costs you progression. This guide follows what Electronic Arts documents on its own help pages, district by district, system by system.
At a glance
EA Sports FC 27 opens three districts around a central square, The Terrace.
Your Archetype is chosen freely and levelled through AXP.
Amps fill three slots and expire after a set number of matches.
What The Grounds is in EA Sports FC 27
The Grounds extends the Clubs experience into a social world built around your Archetype. The guide published by Electronic Arts describes it as a space where you explore, meet other players and find different ways to play.
One thing settles the nerves straight away: the whole area is open from your first log-in. No level gate locks a district. The mode runs on PC, PS5, Xbox Series and Switch 2.
Everything hangs on how you spend your time rather than on unlocks. That is what makes the opening hours tricky.

The three EA Sports FC 27 districts and their central square
In EA Sports FC 27, The Terrace sits at the centre and links the three districts. It is where you arrive when you enter The Grounds, and where the Clubhouse stands.
Montclair draws on France and sits west. It holds 2v2, Rush, Scenarios and Bucket Ball. Zeiza draws on Argentina and sits north. Parkside is the UK-inspired district, east of The Terrace, and gives access to Clubs 11v11 Drop-In.
Getting about comes down to two options. Walking, or the map with waypoints towards the Clubhouse, the stores, Rush Drop-In, 11v11 Drop-In and the pitches. Fast travel exists, though it only works towards a Street Football pitch or a Kickabout.
Street Football, Kickabouts and Rush
Street Football runs small-sided matches in 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3, spread through EA Sports FC 27 across pitches that each carry an information board. Read that board before joining the queue, because the rules shift from one pitch to the next.
Kickabouts in EA Sports FC 27 are short multiplayer activities with their own rules, among them Bocce Ball, Balloon Ball and Bucketball. Ranked Rush and Rush Live Event Tournaments sit at dedicated spots around the world. Entering either mode pulls you out of your Grounds instance for the duration.
To join a game: find the pitch, read its board, step into the queue zone and select Play. While you wait you can watch live matches from the sidelines. Some formats spin up a separate match once enough players turn up.
White dots on the map show where other players gather. Blue marks your Club, pink marks your party.
Archetypes and AXP, the real engine of progress
The help page on Archetypes lays out the principle: pick an Archetype, earn Archetype XP, or AXP, then spread your Attributes to match how you want to play.
Two details are worth their weight for a newcomer. Every Archetype is available from the start, and Attribute points can be adjusted freely. Nothing locks in, so you can experiment without wrecking a build.
AXP comes from playing and from completing Objectives in The Grounds. Certain rewards and consumables hand it over directly or raise how much you earn. Wherever you play in EA Sports FC 27, on the street or in a stadium, you collect AXP and Grounds Coins.

Amps, four tiers and three slots
EA Sports FC 27 Amps, short for Accelerated Match Performance items, add benefits to your Archetype for a limited spell. The official page sets out four tiers.
Tier 1 and Tier 2 grant Attribute boosts across a limited number of matches. Tier 3 and Tier 4 are Signature Amps, sometimes drawn from real players. Some Amps carry an Affinity with a specific Archetype: equipping them on the matching Archetype adds a bonus, sprint speed for instance.
You get one Signature slot and two standard slots. Amps apply to every stadium match as well as in-world Rush, and each one expires after a set number of games. The practical upshot: hold your rare Amps back until your build has settled.
The Clubhouse and the two kinds of store
The EA Sports FC 27 Clubhouse sits inside The Terrace. It opens League and Playoff matches, 11v11 Live Event Tournaments, and a store for Consumables and Amps.
Mind two limits. Ranked Rush and 11v11 Drop-In stay out of reach from the Clubhouse, so you go to their access points in the world. And vanity items come only from a World Store, never from the Clubhouse store.
What to do in your first two hours
Start by picking an EA Sports FC 27 Archetype that matches the job you actually want on the pitch, since nothing traps you there. Then work through several different activities rather than one: every format pays AXP and teaches you a corner of the world.
Clear the easy Objectives first, because those feed the early stretch of progression. And keep limited-use Amps in reserve while your build is still moving.
One last practical note: EA Sports FC 27 cross-play works between PC and current-generation consoles, Switch 2 aside. There is no proximity chat or open mic in The Grounds, so communication runs through emotes, with EA Connect handling voice and text between friends.
Upcoming release dates and major updates are tracked in our games calendar, which you can filter by platform.
